Yes!
I highly recommend a bridal makeup trial before your big day. This gives us the chance to discuss your desired look, try out different styles, and ensure you're completely happy with your makeup. Trials are scheduled at least 4-6 weeks before the wedding day.
To get the best results, follow these tips:
- Clean and moisturise your face at least one hour beforehand. I recommend starting with a gentle cleanser and a lightweight moisturiser. This will help the makeup go on smoother, avoid any patchiness and last longer.
- Avoid trying out new skincare It’s best not to use products you haven’t tried on your skin before as you may have an adverse reaction that will affect the application of your makeup.
For bridal clients: I recommend replicating other aspects of your look as best as possible to how you want them for your big day in order for you to be able to see the full picture at your trial. This means arriving with a tan if you plan to have one on the wedding day so we can match this shade, wearing white or whichever shade your wedding dress will be, and if possible styling your hair similarly to how you will have it on the day. This will help us bring the full vision to life and ensure we have an accurate canvas to match your perfect look to.
Start by thinking about makeup looks you've had in the past that made you feel the most confident. What did you love about these looks? Was it the colors, the shapes?
On the other hand, think about any looks you didn’t love as much. What about them didn't work for you? Are there any specific shades or techniques you particularly didn’t like on your features?
When searching for inspiration, use specific keywords like “neutral tones,” “winged liner,” “smokey eye,” “bridal makeup,” “night out glam,” “mature skin,” “light/dark complexions,” etc.
Google and Pinterest are great tools for inspiration, but keep in mind that many images you find may be heavily edited, which is very difficult to translate into real life. A better option is to browse the Instagram or TikTok pages of makeup artists. This way, you’ll see makeup on a wide variety of faces, not just celebrities. Feel free to check out my portfolio too of course!
When you scroll through the images, look for people who share similar features with you—such as hair color, skin tone, face shape, eye color, etc. This helps you visualize how a particular style might look on you and sets more realistic expectations for your makeup.
Make sure your inspo images are clear, with the makeup details easy to see. And remember, “neutral makeup” doesn’t always mean “natural makeup” there's a difference!
